Card Conditioning
At SenkoTCG, we condition every single we sell using the TCGplayer Card Conditioning standards, the scale most players and stores in the hobby already use. If you've bought cards on TCGplayer, our conditions mean the same thing here.
How we judge condition
A card's condition comes down to how many flaws it has and how serious they are. That covers wear from play and handling (whitening, scratches, scuffs, bends) as well as printing or factory flaws. We look at the whole card: front, back, edges, and corners, under good light.
When a card falls between two conditions, we list it at the lower one. We'd rather you be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.
Quick reference
| Condition | In short |
|---|---|
| Near Mint (NM) | Looks basically unplayed. Clean surface, sharp corners, at most a minor flaw or two. |
| Lightly Played (LP) | Minor, noticeable wear such as light edge whitening or small scuffs. Nothing major. |
| Moderately Played (MP) | Clearly played. More wear across edges and surface, and possibly a minor bend or crease. |
| Heavily Played (HP) | Lots of wear, creases, and whitening, but the card is still structurally sound and clearly authentic. |
| Damaged (DMG) | Wear or damage beyond HP, such as tears, splits, heavy creasing, or water damage. |
Condition details
Near Mint (NM)
A Near Mint card looks like it came straight from the pack into a sleeve. You might find a speck of edge wear or a faint scratch if you look closely, but nothing that stands out at a normal glance.
Lightly Played (LP)
Lightly Played cards show light handling: a little whitening along the edges, a few small scuffs or scratches. The wear is visible, but it's minor and there isn't much of it. The card is still in great shape for play or a binder.
Moderately Played (MP)
Moderately Played cards have clear wear across the edges and surface, and may have a minor bend, crease, or light water exposure, as long as the card itself is still sturdy. These make excellent playables at a lower price.
Heavily Played (HP)
Heavily Played cards have seen a lot of use: heavy whitening, multiple creases, and significant surface wear. They're still intact and easy to identify as genuine, which makes them a budget-friendly way to complete a deck or collection.
Damaged (DMG)
Damaged cards have problems that go beyond normal wear, such as tears, splitting, major creases, or damage that affects how sturdy the card is. Cards with markings like signatures, stamps, ink, or paint, and cards with significant factory defects like major miscuts or crimping, are also listed as Damaged.
Japanese & other language cards
Language doesn't affect a card's condition. Japanese and other non-English cards are conditioned the same way, and each listing clearly states the card's language.
